Probably you are trying to use the .mo file with 1.5 version of WP,
the actual .POT is updated to the future 1.5.1 version that fix a lot
of localization problems among a lot of other little bug.

Use a nightly build or refer to
http://svn.automattic.com/wordpress/trunk to have the on worls 1.5.1
WP files.
