[wp-hackers] Putting the P in WordPress

This has been a fascinating discussion to follow.

My two cents --

It's one thing for the WordPress devs to make sure that THEY spell the
word "WordPress" properly in all of their documentation and interface
elements.

However, having the software itself correct user input in this way
seems to cross a line, especially if there is no simple on/off switch
for users to flip.

It's sort of like the "Convert emoticons like :-) and :-P to graphics
on display" option that is in Settings->Writing. If there is an option
for the emoticons, why wouldn't there be one for WordPress? (One could
argue that neither one should be in core, of course.)

Cheers-
Bill
