Sounds like a good middle ground.
I'm still not sure whether i'm actually for shutting down / removing
that forum all together but i like the idea proposed. This is precisely
why i love open discussion, even something so simple as closing(as
appose to removal) never even entered my mind...

I don't necessarily see the need to nuke what's already there; it can be archived, can it not?

Jeff could you hint at which Matt you refer to, there's lots of Matt's,
Michaels, Marks, and all sorts in this community, i have trouble keeping
track of it all(not quite as super human as some community members,
hehe, it's a big community).
If nominations(appointment) are in order(can't nominate myself -
wouldn't feel right), i'd say MichaelH(even though he's not responded to
this discussion specifically), simply because he's helped me a great
deal since i joined the WP community and played a huge part in making me
feel welcome and part of the team (and that's not to undermine anyone
else in their help, support and friendliness in my time here).
I'm more than happy to take that resposiblity, or step aside if someone
wants to volunteer or nominate a particular individual(i'm easy going i
don't mind), but i'd like to make something happen rather then just
discussing it(i'm guilty of that too often, i put my hands up!)
