As a point of history, there was a Beta forum created around the time I joined
back in Oct. 2004 for dealing with 1.5 users. It was soon closed after release,
but returned for 2. And so on. It was mere happenstance that it stayed around
without a break (though you should ask Podz if he had reasons for it) this time
around.
It's true the forums never provided 'official' support for anything other than
post-release versions. That didn't stop people from looking for it there. Hence
the 'Beta' forum.

If you return the the original email in this thread, you would see I asked for
nothing more than a change to the description.

I never learned how to provide theoretical support.
(Sorry Michael, I got a pretty snarky here.)

As far as I'm concerned the issue RIGHT NOW is not what do we do with the forum,
or how should we deal with the 2.1/2.0.x conundrum, etc. The issue is: how to
dissuade members from posting 2.1 issues in the Beta forum. One was to do that
is very simple, as I originally suggested.
