Comment:

Sorry, but I guess I wasn't very descriptive of the problem, as the dupes
you referenced are not the problem that I am seeing.

My dashboard works fine. There are no index.* files in mu-plugins/ or
 plugins/.

I'm talking about the Admin Bar (the core implementation of Viper007Bond's
plugin) that is displayed across the top of the screen in the wp-admin
area. in WP[MU] 2.6.5, some plugins would add links to the main navigation
area (alongside Write, Manage, Comments, etc). In WP[MU] 2.7, not only are
those links added to the left side of the admin area, but they are also
added to the right side of the Admin Bar as drop-down menus (See
 attachment #1).

In this dropdown menu, the first (topmost) link (see attachment #2) does
not direct to the correct page. '''Using the SlidePress plugin as an
example''', the first option of the menu, "SlidePress", links to /wp-
admin/slidepress, instead of /wp-admin/admin.php?page=slidepress. As such,
a 404 error occurs because there is no slidepress/ directory under wp-
 admin.

I say this is a bug in the admin bar because the SlidePress menu generated
on the left side of the screen functions correctly, every page of the
plugin is referenced as a $_GET variable to admin.php

I hope this is a clearer description.
