Comment:

 The functionality was removed in the edit categories page to simplify
 things for the users, most of whom wouldn't know what WordPress is or what
 a url is, probably.

 The global tags code is built on the premise that the category name (now
 taxonomy name) will equal the slug for everyone so modifying the slug for
 a category will have unknown implications for other blogs. If you really
 want to modify the slug, the global tags table and code will have to be
 updated to support that.

 If there's a slug field left in the code, that's a bug, I need to remove
 that.
