Comment:

 I will have to throw a vote to the opposing side here.

 As the mu-plugins directory should be used as sparingly as possible, one
 of the best "features" of this special directory is being able to keep
 additional files in a subdirectory that are only loaded when called by the
 controlling file directly in mu-plugins.
