> Isn't it annoying the fact that WordPress sends an automatic email every
time a new version has been auto-updated or a plugin is in automatic
update mode and updates? Users don't really have an option to disable
either of these two things, and it's clearly a front-line feature that
feels like a take it or leave it.
The WP hardening guide (https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-
administration/security/hardening/) is incompatible with automatic
updates, so we have them off. We then use an update notification plugin
where the sender address, message frequency, etc. are configurable.
> The problem is that the bureaucrats of these Core sections, have the
power to hinder these proposals, but they can't hinder other areas like AI
because those guys have much more power in this project than them, so they
have to bow their heads and accept the new changes with unease. It's like
a game of thrones. ;)

Nothing new in the land of web development. Everything is terrible, and by
the time enough people realize it, there's a new group of 19-year-olds in
charge who think that everything learned before 2025 could not possibly
still have relevance. I gave up and got a math degree. I'm only here
because my dayjob pays me to undo these asinine decisions.
Personally I would leave it open so that there is a place to send the
inevitable duplicates, but I don't really care anymore.
