 Thank you for your research. That directory search covers only the
 wordpress.org repository. Most themes from major renowned producers like
 ElmaStudio Renkon are not available there and won't be searched. But still
 they are used in the real WordPress community out there and should not
 suddenly break simply because someone thought it was a good idea to
 introduce purely cosmetic HTML5 code adjustments into core - changes which
 from a technical standpoint have absolutely no impact - without
 considering the potential side effects of the changed `gallery_style`
 output.

 That's why that change at `Filters whether to print default gallery
 styles.` in `wp-includes/media.php` should be reverted. In addition there
 is no `since` annotation there about that change and still no dev note
 available.
