 From today's Bug Scrub

 > it's not in 7.0. #core-ai should get to it in time for 7.1 though...
 Though for context, the intentional design decsion was to omit it from 6.9
 since existing _deprecated() methods work just fine without an explicit
 api

 There hasn't been any activity in this ticket in the last 4 months.
 Punting it for WP 7.1. It seems it still needs more conversation and
 agreement.
