 To some degree, getting this shipped in beta is a way to find out the
 scope of issues like this. I'm not sure we can give a lot of thought to
 back compat issues like this; where would we draw the line? The color
 changes themselves are going to be a back compat issue for some extenders.
 To me, this falls within a reasonable scope of what we might expect an
 extender to adapt for.

 The feature isn't broken; it just looks weird.
