 The current code shows the akismet connector for all users, not just those
 that have Akismet installed. Seeing that there are now six committers
 (seven based off of @matveb's comments) that are supporting the revert,
 that seems like the best immediate path.

 I stand by my original recommendation that no additional connectors should
 be added until some guidelines are agreed up and published on make/core
 for what connectors need in order to ship with core. I can absolutely see
 a possible result of that is shipping a connector for Akismet (or
 something similar), but for the time being, it's clear this code is not
 ready for WordPress.
