 @sabernhardt As we've been chatting over DM, it looks like this is an
 existing issue which is already affecting block themes. It has been
 reported in [https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/69427
 Gutenberg#69427] where I just added a
 [https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/69427#issuecomment-3504267994
 comment] noting that would start to be seen by classic themes in 6.9.
