Comment:

 == Reproduction Report
 === Description
 ✅ This report validates whether the issue can be reproduced.
 ⚠️ It seems that the solution
 [https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/47813 should continue
 upstream].

 === Environment
 - WordPress: 6.9-alpha-60093-src
 - PHP: 8.2.28
 - Server: nginx/1.27.5
 - Database: mysqli (Server: 8.4.5 / Client: mysqlnd 8.2.28)
 - Browser: Chrome 136.0.0.0
 - OS: Windows 10/11
 - Theme: Twenty Seventeen 3.9
 - MU Plugins: None activated
 - Plugins:
   * Test Reports 1.2.0

 === Actual Results
 1.  ✅ Error condition occurs

 === Additional Notes
 - 2 Years after I want to refresh the current state of this ticket:
 1. The [https://github.com/WordPress/wordpress-develop/pull/3891 last
 patch] is not 100% compliant. Double click has to be made to have the
 style in italics, which can be counterintuitive
 2. @poena suggested [https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/47813
 an alternative upstream] with a style reset that never flourished because
 they don't know how to solve this.
 3. Preemptively, I would close this as reported upstream and continue
 working in the upstream report. If a conclusion that the solution upstream
 is undoable, then it would be fair to reopen this report to continue
 working on a solution straight on core.
