Comment (by joedolson):

The Firefox ESR 115 is hitting end of life in March 2026, and only exists
to support Windows 7 through 8.1 and macOS 10.12 through 10.14. Windows
8.1 hit EOL on January 10th, 2023 - almost 3 years ago, and macOS 10.14
hit EOL on October 25th 2021, over 4 years ago. In principle, these
 systems are unsafe to use.

While it's easy to add that support back in, these are all systems that
are *well* out of our official browser support.

I would ask where we'll draw the line at what we choose to support within
the unsupported class of browsers. There are probably many other instances
of CSS throughout core that are not supported by Firefox 115 - are we
going to revert all of those? This may merit adjustments to our official
browser support policy, but if so, we need to make it a policy change, not
 a one-off.

Windows 7 usage is still at 2.9% of Windows usage, so it's worth
 considering.
