Comment (by poena):

 I don't think that approaching this "solution first" is the correct way to
 solve the underlying issue, which is "slow LCP caused by render delay due
 to external stylesheets.".

 Minifying the stylesheet files does not tell us if inlining the styles by
 using theme.json is faster.
