 To add to the above:

 my website is:
 https://www.jeanarnold.com/

 The only gallery to which this applies was just created last night. All
 the other galleries were created before 5.9.
 The new gallery with the problem is:
 https://www.jeanarnold.com/malden/

 For comparison, here is one of the previous galleries (with things working
 properly):
 https://www.jeanarnold.com/paintings-2009-10/
 With the Masonry view, showing the thumbnails:

 I am using Dorsey theme from Made By Minimal company.

 The way to create this problem is to just simply try to create a gallery:
 first, finding that the order of the images cannot be changed, and second,
 to find that choosing Masonry has no effect.
