 Indeed, I would be interested in starting this discussion sooner rather
 than later. That said, to increase the chances of it actually happening
 this time (and avoid repeating the fate of #51043), I think we should wait
 until PHP 5.6 does actually drop below 5%.

 In the meantime, created #meta6612 to prepare for bumping the recommended
 PHP version to 8.0+. Any thoughts and ideas welcome!
