 I saw this on the UI blog and definitely liked this one. I know we're
 going for contrast, but the button and drop-down seem a bit too dark.
 Also, if made a little lighter (but dark enough to be still fine
 accessibility-wise), changing the button to a link might not be necessary.
 (Unless of course there are other reasons for it.)

 Also, we need to make sure the text and link colors are different in
 "Howdy, admin | Log Out" -- looks like they're the same in the mockup.
