[wp-hackers] esc_textarea() back to normal text?

I wrote some text to the database using esc_textarea(update_option(1,$test)) and when I fetch it using get_option(1) it reads &lt;hello&gt; (as expected) but what's the function to convert it back to <hello> for display?
