I currently trying to do a business directory (utilizing custom post 
types and taxonomies) with "get directions" links and maps. I found this 
thread while looking for the proper way to store the geodata 
(post_meta). I'm going to tie the geodata to a geocoding API to fetch an 
address, and vice-versa. On this thread I've also found an interesting 
point: I should also consider GeoRSS :) An API would be great right 
around now...

Also, The API could cover the data sent from smart phones using the WP 
apps. That'd certainly be useful to users on the road.
