Thanks Mike and Peter for your quick and helpful responses. I'm much happier
with this approach rather than reinventing the wheel. Once done, I'll
probably blog about my experiences with it so that it can be useful to
others.

You should easily be able to do this with a piece of post_meta to identify
which is which.
