[wp-hackers] Putting the P in WordPress

Not so sure on a WordpreSs social list (for this kind of topic), but WP-Discussions sounds a good idea.

A lot of this conversation hasn't been social - it's been political anger at the way things have been run.

Having a WordPress Social IRC room would be fantastic.  A place where
people who LIKE WordPress could talk about it, but also talk other
stuff.  Have some sort of moderation, but not super strict - basically
like a WordPress themed bar.
