Before things get too violent, I'd like to remind people that this function is just implemented with an add_filter.  I just wrote a two line plugin (not counting comments) that removes this feature by calling remove_filter.  If this default behavior conflicts with your setup, ethics or digital morality, two lines can negate it. The behavior is added in the file "default-filters.php" and not buried deep in some hard coded core function.
