[wp-hackers] Screen options and columns

Hi,

I started trying to doing this on my own, but rather than reinvent the
wheel, I was wondering if there is code in core that can easily be called or
at least copied into my plugin for adding to a page's "Screen Options" to
trigger the number of columns that are used on the page. I would of course
want to save this into usermeta via admin-ajax.
