I can see how some would feel that way.

But to me, a Blog is a collection of content, with certain meta attached,  
specifically, an order and a date.

I can see how that calender could be useful to those who need to move  
posts between specific dates often, but hats not my usage, My usage would  
be to publish a post on this day, and never worry about the order again.

Seems like a great plugin to achieve what you're wanting however, i just  
dont see the need for it in core either.

In all respects, Its much like the Calender widget, except for the  
backend..
