WordPress does what it does very well  in my opinion for one reason, and
that reason is WordPress has continually been developed to be a personal
publishing system, and nothing more. If you want more and it is feasible,
develop/use a plug-in. Otherwise use the right tool for the job. There are
plenty of other tools out there. For instance: Drupal, ExpressionEngine,
Joomla!, Mambo, and Oracle UCM just to name a few.
