I appreciate the point, Michael, but there are some common
queries/solutions that don't fit easily into the Codex documentation
structure. Conditional CSS is one such example. Strictly speaking, it
isn't a WP issue - it's a general CSS wrangling one. But I got so tired
of posting the same answer that I initially ended up writing a blog post
on it.
Then, in the interests of trying to keep solutions within the
wordpress.org domain, I created a Codex user page [1]. That was months
ago but, despite having a wander around the docs every now and then,
I've yet to find a suitable slot for this kind of info. It's way too big
for a faq point but I'm unsure if it's suitable as a Codex page in its
own right.
{In fact, I'd question whether the Codex should really be addressing
general CSS/markup topics at all! It can never be all things to all
users, so why not focus limited resources on directly WP-related topics?)
On top of that, there's the whole "how to you go about getting a page
officially added to the Codex" thing. I know it is possible but there's
only so many hours in a day, this does all add up and no one has
unlimited time to spare. So I end up linking to my user page (which is
really clunky) or, on rare occasions, to my own blog.
I'm sure I'm not the only one like this - full of good intentions but
short on time. And, in the meantime, there are people asking for help.
