[wp-forums] self-linking rules?

I agree on most points.
 
The forums aren't the best place to put large bodies of code or code-writing
tutorials.  You can use pastebins to store code blocks, but those are somewhat
transitory as well and don't work well when *describing* what the code you've
written does.  So while I'm all for encouraging that we post the full answer (if
it's all text) to the forum, there are times where a link out to an external
resource is more appropriate.
 
If I write a long tutorial on how to do X, I'll probably post it on my site.
 I'd link to my tutorial from the forum thread and, eventually, copy the
response into the Codex as well.  There are some answers that work well for
one-off tutorials on a blog that wouldn't belong in the Codex, though ...
