If the users can see the tags in use, they can abuse the system still,
whether you use abc or fruitcake doesn't matter, once you see a tag
repeatedly used then it's quite easy to guess what it's there for.

Not a bad idea mind you, I can just see it only having a somewhat temporary
effect, until everyone catches onto what it's there for, it's then back to
square one. This also it doesn't address the issue of tag spamming on the
forums in general.

Whether this is really a serious problem remains to be seen as I personally
have no insight into what happens on the back end of the forums, as I'm only
a mere minion(user).

Sam, Michael, Otto? What's your take on the problem, does spam tagging eat
into your time on the forum a lot? Or is this more of a minor issue?

[offtopic] - I see I missed some heated debate surrounding personal links.
Such a shame to see things turn personal over something I'd consider a
trivial matter, but I guess people can't agree all of the time. I think you
guys made the right call, but then that's just my opinion for what it's
worth.

Here's a random thought... what about using a much more cryptic tag? I
came across a perfectly reasonable, single post, topic the other day
that had been tagged modlook with the usual "this is an emergency" tone
to it. It occurred to me that anyone who browses the forum may start to
notice the modlook tags and figure them out. They could then use it
under the mistaken apprehension that it gives them immediate access to
some form of second line support.

If it was changed to something like "xyz", the connection is less likely
to be made and the tag abused.
