"Hackers" should never been let to make decisions about what theme should be the "default". Period. That's why even today WP has a fame(?) of being a blogging tool for geeks only...
I am not on IRC either but as one of those who spend quite a lot of time in the forum helping I can tell you that I simply neglect most of the Deafult questions. It was the worst idea ever to use Kubrick as default and I refuse and will refuse to answer questions about it.
(Hopefully it won't be Blix the next default, LOL)
And since no common sense suggestions were ever considered by the developers - I feel it's a futile exercise even to talk about it.
