Typicaly, if it's not too diffucult, and I know the answer off the top
of my head, I just do it.
If it requires more than 5 seconds of thought (or it's something I'd
have to look up), I usualy send them to positioniseverything, the css
zen garden and the w3schools. I'm also not afraid to let people know
about the validators and how to use them. If necessary I might provide
the handbasket too. But only in extreme cases.
I don't think CSS or (X)HTML 101 in the forums is necessary. A page in
the Codex would be more appropo, but only as a "Here's a list of
sites....." blah, blah, blah. There's already enough out there, we don't
need to duplicate what has already been said & done. Point them in the
right direction, and hope they find their way.
