The action has started to promote the WordPress Backup Week July 23-30.
Information is at http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups.

As a reminder, the event is a coordinated effort between the forum and
the Codex to help users backup their WordPress site and database. Podz
has been working overtime with the help of many others to put together
documentation on how to backup WordPress for different systems and
servers. And we need the Support Volunteers to be ready to answer
questions and direct users to the right place.

Having just had four hard drive crashes in three weeks, I'm in NO PLACE
to talk about backups, except to share my sob stories with the others on
a post that will be released on the forum in the next day or so, and we
hope you will share your sob stories there, too, to remind people "it
can happen to YOU" and usually when you least expect it or need it.

So I'm just starting out the topic. Here are the questions I think need
to be asked and answered.

* Is there a fast and easy way to universally backup an entire WordPress
site and database? One click?
* Where do I backup to?
* How often should I backup?
* I only post occassionally to my blog, so how important is this to me?
* My host server says they backup my site all the time, why do I need to?
* How do I get a backup of my site from my host server? Can I?

So what else are people going to ask and how can we prepare YOU for
Backup Week? It's going to be fun and we want to help make it fun by
helping us all learn about how it works, and to help others not be in a
place to share their sob stories.
