 Sure.

 It seems I'm in the minority here but I don't see why this change is
 needed to allowed for GP to display these strings if the GP admin wants it
 too.

 I would have thought the admin could just have configured a source url
 template of {{{%file%:%line%}}} if they wanted them in the UI but not
 linked to the actual code.

 I'll happily revert my revert and find a different way to solve this for
 WP.com but I'm not convinced that this solution is the right general
 solution.
