 I'm attaching two files:

 * 8582.9-just-diff.patch is just the changes made after imath's .8 patch.
 It contains the necessary changes for multisite setups, so that the
 activation email is interrupted like it is on single site setups. I've
 tested all four WPMU registration allowance options, but would love for
 other testers to work through each scenario, too.
 * 8582.9-combined.patch is a complete patch that you should be able to
 apply to a fresh branch and have all of the requests functionality.

 Specific questions or thoughts:
 I've added a WPMU user meta filter to mirror changes made in the
 BP_Signups class. I've put it in `bp-core-filters.php` near other wpmu
 filters. Is that the right place for the filter?
 The "close" button in the thickbox modal appears outside the modal, to the
 right. Is that the correct location? It's a little hard to see over the
 dark scrim.
