Comment:

 Thanks for the report, @c9charity.  However, this does not sound like a
 BuddyPress issue.  We piggyback off of WordPress' native oEmbed
 functionality to achieve rich embeds.

 I'm guessing when you try pasting a `t.co` link in a WordPress post, that
 it will also not display the embed either.  If it does, let us know and
 we'll reopen this issue.
