 Hi @boonebgorges- I think you're right in that the only backcompat case is
 in `bp_core_remove_subnav_item()` for the case used in "Invite Anyone"
 with the group slug being passed as the `$parent_slug`. I've written a
 test that I think should show this case and will attach it.
