 You're correct, that both bp_do_theme_compat() and setting
 bp_set_theme_compat_active( false ) early in bbp_replace_the_content() are
 what prevent the recursion.

 You're also correct that the WP_Post stuff is unrelated to this specific
 bug; I can patch without it if it's distracting to the actual fixes.
