Last night I checked in revision 28 of BuddyPress. This version is now
running on http://testdrivewpmu.com for those who want to give it a
run through.
Revisions include:
- Multiple blog support: members of your network can now sign up and
run more than one blog. Their primary account is used as their 'home'
where they can manage their friends/groups/messages etc. Other blogs
just contain the normal WordPress blogging features. Their home
account stays as the first tab in their admin interface and is marked
with a user icon.
- New 'Blog' tab with no loss of WPMU features. I've completely
revised the blog tab and simply bumped down all blog related tabs one
level. This means all features found in WPMU are accessible and have
not been renamed or moved.
- Site admin settings for BuddyPress have been moved under the 'Site
Admin' tab. There was no point in creating another site administration
tab.
- Member level settings for components have been introduced and blog
settings have been dropped down one level to "Settings>Blog".
- I've introduced two site administration settings for BuddyPress
under "Site Admin>BuddyPress". The first lets you completely turn off
the 'Blog' tab and stick with the default WPMU tab layout. The second
lets you disable the 'Design' tab site wide for all members (other
than site admins).
Next Steps:
My next steps are to go through the code at this stage and bring it
into line with the Wordpress Coding Standards, to keep things
consistent. This will mean a change in filenames, if you are keeping
up to date using SVN then this shouldn't cause a problem.
