[wp-testers] Keeping Up-to-date

Could you list the pros and cons?

Plugins are great, but I think this is something that should be
considered as a native function. Most plugin users (especially ones
who bother to check for more obscure ones like pjw_wp_version_monitor)
are likely more advanced users who are on WP.org often enough anyway.
