[wp-pro] Perhaps need some help with WP development

Just joined. Hope this is the right place to ask for this. Forgive me if its not.

Im a Coranto migrant and just installed WP 2.1.3.  My domain is www.automobilize.com.

Basically we're a content development team in the automotive world, parceling out columns and articles for syndication and republishing, and also for showcasing our photography and videography we produce at automotive events to supplement our coverage.

Im a journalist by trade and know just enough HTML to be dangerous. Ive run a few VB sites w/CMPS etc. but I honestly dont have the time or inclination to develop a WP site on my own. Im looking for someone to help facilitate this and we'd be more than happy to throw a few greenbacks in your direction for the trouble.  

A little about our intent:
1. An artistic feel to the site, probably gray/black based and exploiting our logo colors elsewhere. 
2 We'd like space on the home page to run audio, photos and or video. We cant have a front page with just links and blogs. Embedded video, usually we run MP3, WMV. Beyond the home page we need a nice looking gallery for the photos and videos as well
3. Various navigation links for our business (About Us, Products, Photo, Video, Portfolio etc etc)
4. We need a mechanism to publish articles in one "repository" and blogs in another. Perhaps these are the WP 'pages'. Im not familiar enough to speak on it.
5. Need 'posted by' or some sort of byline on every blog/article.
6. Some sort of avatar mechanism would be nice but not mandatory.

I have no problem cannabalizing someone else's open sourced theme if it makes everything easier.

If Im asking the wrong questions to the wrong people, just let me know.
