It does not bother me for a plugin to ask people to leave them good
reviews, as long as they're not actually being dicks about it.

Like, "If you found this alert helpful, please give us a 5 star rating" is
fine. But something like "Give us a rating to continue to get updates" or
"Give us a rating to stop getting updates" or "Give us a rating or we'll
shoot this dog", not so fine.

Asking your happy customers to give you good reviews is a proven technique.
As long as they don't tie reviews to anything else, my advice is to let it
go.
