[wp-forums] Jan Dembowski

Sorry, no, you're the one who really needs to tone it down.

You experienced a problem because you modified a core file, and an update replaced that file. That's why we always say to never modify core files. You should always use a plugin instead, and that's what Jan said, because plugins are easier to manage and aren't wiped out by core updates.

Plain and simple, don't modify core files because bad things happen (as you noticed), try a plugin instead, he even gave you a link to get started.

There was no attack there, no bad humor, just another person pointing out a problem and offering a solution.

Instead, you choose to make it personal, suggesting that he "take a chill pill" for what? For trying to help you?

So then, he pointed out again that he was only trying to help, and then shut down the topic because you had your answers and were instead making personal comments.

So then how do you respond to someone trying to help and then re-affirming that's what they were doing? Apparently with this. You jump on a mailing list of volunteer moderators and attack another volunteer moderator.

Say what you want here, we don't censor. Say I'm of bad humor too, say I need a chill pill too, but all I see here is someone who was helped by a volunteer and then took that as an opportunity to slander him on a mailing list.

No, sir, you are the one who is wrong. Jan is a good person, he helped you, and you attacked him for it.

And I related the interesting stuff I had learned from that.

Most of the time, when I do visit, when I do have time and focus in my life to be visiting these forums, I spend most of my time answering to other people's support requests.

These questions are always smaller than the stuff I need to do myself, so they are like the sub-problems to my own needs and plans. Because of that, I save no energy or effort in trying to help these people and get them the perfect solution for what they want, sometimes spending hours and hours and hours to develop a solution for someone I don't know. And I believe the forums are a better place because of that, no matter how little I do....

That spells "unappreciative" like nothing else... No matter how valuable the forums may have been to me before, if I'm getting abused like that, there is no point for me to stay, or to be staying.
