[wp-forums] Say it once and be done with it?

Agreed. But first let's wait and SEE if it is a theme-specific issue before throwing them off the cliff. :) I think if the guy was behaving anything remotely like a giant horse's patoot, I wouldn't bring it up.

I perceived it as a knee-jerk reaction. Someone peeked at the source code, and saw, Oh, a premium theme, let's send him packing.

Also, I think that once it's said, once the OP is on notice that (1) we know he has a premium theme; and (2) it could be a premium theme issue; one warning is enough unless he just becomes insane about the whole thing. As WP support forum encouters go, I think this was one of the more pleasant ones. :)

The -suggestion- is that if it's a theme specific issue, send them onwards.

The -why- is that we have limited number of helpers to help an unlimited
number of needers. These people HAVE other resources when they have a
premium theme, and if they were to use it, then we have less a burden.
It's not about them being assy, it's about using our limited resources
to the maximum capacity without burning people out :) So while you have
a great point Joni (I'll get there in a second), it can set up
unreasonable expectations.

Now Joni's point is excellent. Please, let us not let the rules override
common sense. So long as the user understands there will be a limit to
what we can do (and if it was 'Your theme sucks...') it's okay to help
out with the basics of WP, no matter what. Know yourself and your
limits, and try to keep the user where they can understand the limits of
what free support here can do, and to PLEASE avail themselves of the
support they paid for.

By the way, I believe the fix was in removing this part:

# Use PHP5 Single php.ini as default
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5s .php

He probably broke his php.ini messing around with settings, and he
actually should ask his host for help there.

Having multiple entries of the WP .htaccess doesn't generally break WP
in that way :) I'm sure it can.

FYI - I'll probably be more absent for a bit. Family.
