Welllllll.... I've been living on fora since the early 90s.  I've never seen 
stuff like that happen as a general course.  Posters get what they need and go 
away, they don't give a darn whether the next guy is able to do a logical search 
(since THEY don't, why should they, someone will answer etc etc ad infinitum ad 
nauseam....), they don't care whether anyone has to wade through the resolved 
threads to find someone who needs help....

Just the way it is in the support fora business, I'd say.  Been there done 
that.... those of us who do follow whatever rules are in place on whichever 
forum we're at are few and far between.

Moving the search box and the resolved dropdown will get about 1% of posters to 
do something with them.  Even 1% would be a help.
