 To add a bit more info, since I am the other user sivel just mentioned,
 deleting the plugin's files also makes WPMU claim to deactivate the plugin
 (similar to when clicking the 'Deactivate' link, but throwing the
 'Deactivated due to an error:...' message), but then there remains a line
 in 'Currently Active Site Wide Plugins' with only a link to 'Deactivate'
 the plugin (no other plugin info, since the plugin's files are gone). The
 problem is that the plugin is never actually removed from the db
 (wp_sitemeta->active_sitewide_plugins), in either case of clicking the
 link, or deleting the plugin's files.
