 lambic, this is a strange scenario.

 What happens if you add that site-wide admin to the blog?

 Does that happen every time? Can you create a test blog with the same
 theme / plugins and see if you can repo? What about with the default theme
 and no blog plugins?

 Can you duplicate it in a testing environment?

 Would you share what plugins you have installed?
