 You could change wp-includes/update.php to point at the trac trunk zip
 file and change the unzip directory "wordpress-mu" found in wp-
 admin/includes/update.php to whatever the trunk zip file unzips to
 (probably "trunk") but it'd get overwritten next time you upgraded.

 It's better to use a local svn workarea really. It makes it easier to
 submit patches too.
