Just did an r1589 install and took a look at the created wp-config.php
 file.

There's a warning about not editing the wp-config.php file since it's a mu
 install.

Followed by a link to the wp.org codex explaining how to edit (or read the
 file) the file. http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php

While what's included in the wp-config.php doesn't specifically state that
you need to edit the file, the first line on the codex article says that
 it's required to install wp.

Maybe that should be clarified a bit. Some folks seem to be seeing some
confusion somewhere and appear to be editing the file.
