 I've set up a few MU sites for business type people, and one thing they
 nearly always say is "Can we say something other than 'Howdy' in the
 admin?". I've made a couple of small changes to admin-header.php, wpmu-
 options.php and wpmu-edit.php to make this a configurable option.
